Gordon Donald Petch

It is with great sadness that the Petch family announces the passing of Gordon Donald Petch in his 84th year after a brief illness at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge.

Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Hill) for 62 years. Wonderful father to Sheila (Jim), Susan (Doug), Glenna (Andy), Daryl (Cheryl) and Scott (Heather).

Proud grandfather to Christopher (Angie), Shaun (Meredith), Shannon (Soufiane), Drew (Ashley), Brittany (Colin), Brandon, Shelby (Tom), Cayla (Paul), Calyn, Amy, DJ, Rebecca (Kurtis) and Courtney. Proud great grandfather to Kai and Dominic.

Dear son of the late Donald and Merle Petch. Predeceased by his brothers Dawson, Douglas and Donald and by his sister Dorothy. Dear brother to Morgan, Marjorie and Phyllis.

Fondly remembered by his many co-workers and friends.

A devoted husband and father, Gordon lived for his family. He was liked by all who met him and loved by those who knew him. Gordon was a sailor for 3 years on the Great Lakes on a ship known as the “AA Hudson.” He was a car inspector with General Motors in Oshawa for 10 years. He later drove for Maple Leaf Foods in Toronto for 15 years. In 1999, Gordon retired and moved to ‘Muskoka’ where he drove school buses and coaches for Hammond Transportation for 18 years.
He enjoyed his life at his lake front cottage on Lake Muskoka. In 2006, Gordon and Sandra moved to their new home in the Town of Gravenhurst.

The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. K. Russell and staff at the Oncology Dept., in Barrie. A special thank you to all the personal caregivers, doctors and staff at SMMH in Bracebridge. In keeping with Gordon’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A private family service was held. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home, Gravenhurst, on Saturday, May 26, 2018, from
2-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, Gordon’s family encourage memorial donations be made to the RVH Cancer Centre - The Medical Oncology Dept., 201 Georgian Drive, Barrie, Ont. L4M 6M2. Memories and condolences for the Petch family may be left at www.cavillfuneralhome.com
