Obituary for Olive Pearl "Ollie" Lane (Ross)

Olive Pearl "Ollie" Lane (Ross)
Lane, Olive Pearl
“Ollie” (nee Ross) 1926 ~ 2017
Passed away peacefully at her residence, Granite Ridge Retirement Home in Gravenhurst on Sunday, October 29, 2017 in her 92nd. year.
Olive was a long time employee with the Department of Veterans Affairs (Sunnybrook) and the Parker Pen Company.
Much loved mother to daughter Marilyn and son-in-law Ron Serink of Kilworthy, Ontario. She was born on June 21, 1926 to George and Ethel Ross of Richmond Hill, and was the loving sister to George (Irkey) Ross (deceased), his wife Peggy of Peterborough and their children: Glenna of Calgary and Glenn (Lee) of Cavan, Ontario. She was the great auntie to Neana and Andrew Taylor of Calgary and Ken Ross of Ottawa, and great great auntie to Konnor Taylor, also of Calgary. Olive was the sister-in-law to Ruth and Cliff Klinck, (deceased), of Kilworthy and their children: John, Robyn (deceased), Tom and Paul. Mrs. Lane was more-mom to Brenda Jean Lycett of Toronto, Marilyn’s childhood friend.
Olive was a lover of animals, and during her life she gave wonderful homes to many stray dogs and cats. She loved to laugh and her infectious giggle and snort were well known to her family and friends. A very stubborn woman, who knew her own mind, she was also caring and loving to those around her.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Cavill-Turner Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on
Friday, November 3, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on
Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery, Kilworthy.
Marilyn and Ron would like to thank the staff at Granite Ridge, Stephanie Martin and her staff at CCAC and Dr. Karen Martin for all their excellent care over the years.
In memory of Olive, donations to the OSPCA or to the Aspen Valley Wildlife Centre would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be left at www.cavillfuneralhome.com
